These fierce, brave and bold women all blazed a path for us to walk. With everyday actions they broke and continue to break gender bias, enabling us to continue to challenge the status quo in big and small ways. So, thank you, mums, for being creative, adventurous and independent women, and the change our world needed. Here’s how our mums inspire us to change the world today:
Brooke’s mum Karen: Achieving great success and travelling the world as a professional tennis player – in what was a heavily male-dominated sport.
Ying’s Mum Chuan: Mum was one of the most liberal thinkers I knew. What I learnt from her was acceptance and humanity – help those who need it and accept diversity.
Steph’s mum Georgia: Her untamable creativity is awe-inspiring. She is the only person I know who stays resolutely positive when faced with adversity.
Kara’s Mum Glenda: Mum gave up everything for us. I love her sense of fun and courage to believe you can do anything. She gave me the freedom to be myself always.

The big guys are getting bigger. The top three brands account for a third of the total value of the top 100 brands. Huge!
🍎 @apple is #1 (again). Will they ever be beaten? Probs not. Consistently living their brand essence of creativity, simplicity and humanity has pushed Apple into the stratosphere.
👾 The top five brands are all tech (@apple, @amazon, @microsoft, @google and @samsung). It makes sense. WFH has demanded digital connectivity. We value brands that help us live the new normal. We want solutions that just work.
🏎 @teslamotors achieved an eyewatering 184% growth. They disrupted a whole category and nailed it. Our mate Elon has effortlessly delivered a functional, beautiful and zero emission solution to the masses. He ruthlessly cornered the EV market in a way that makes the competitors look second rate.
The lesson? Clear direction, product agility and customer participation is the money honey! ⚡⚡
Will ‘for profit, for purpose’ brands make their way into the top 100 and who will be the big disrupters of 2022? No matter how big or small your brand, it’s all about trust. We are honoured to be able to support the amazing work they do across Australia, delivering books to Indigenous kids in remote communities so they can read stories relevant to them in their own languages.
They also publish books from Indigenous authors and have plans to make classics like ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ accessible to all by publishing it in indigenous languages – how cool! 🍎 🐛
We’re passionate about helping Indigenous communities to tell their own stories, in their own language, and protecting the precious culture of our first nations people. We are thrilled to know our contribution equates to 300 books delivered to remote Indigenous communities.

Working with an all-star @universityofnewcastlesoci student team, and @jackmcgrathfilms we brought our Animation Masterclass to four high schools.
The task: recreating Liz‘s vivid illustrations from the @cbcaustralia award-winning book 'Dry to Dry' about life in Australia’s Top End. 🐊🦘🍂
The result, some stunning adaptations of this Kakadu story in the student's voice.
