The Big Picture Festival is Australia’s premier street art festival, responsible for revitalising cities all across Australia.
In Oct 2020, Becky Kill from Newcastle Afoot, an amazing client of Guts, with the support of City of Newcastle was responsible for bringing the festival to Newcastle along with Australia’s most awe-inspiring street artists and a truckload of spray paint.
Becky asked Guts to help with strategic direction for the festival branding, marketing and attracting sponsors.
Landing big sponsors during COVID was quite the challenge! But we tapped into our local networks, got super tenacious, and came through with the goods after a few months of hard work.
A huge heart-warming thanks to some of our most progressive local organisations including the University of Newcastle and Hunter Central Coast Development Corporation for seeing the value of street art and putting some incredible investment behind the fest.
Passionate about street art’s ability to transform a city, Guts also became a sponsor, donating a bunch of extra time and putting our marketing skills to use on all manner of things to make the fest a reality.
Result: the festival was a stunning success and received national coverage on Weekend Sunrise and Better Homes and Gardens. As the scissor lifts rolled out, and the epic six-story murals from the mega-talented Fintan Magee and Inari came to life we were super proud of what Becky had achieved and that we had played a small part in making it happen.
We cannot wait to see how this injection of awesomeness will help continue to transform Newcastle into a must-see destination for years to come.
